Big Zulu Sets Release Date For Upcoming Album UMKHULU. South African music fans have reason to celebrate after award-winning rapper and Inkabi Records boss Big Zulu officially confirmed the release of his upcoming solo album, UMKHULU.
The reveal came straight from the artist via social media, where he spoke directly to his loyal Nkabi Nation. In a heartfelt message, he shared that the album will arrive on 1 May 2026, expressing confidence that fans will enjoy the project and thanking them for their continued support, signing off with his familiar message of unity and love.
The title UMKHULU carries strong cultural weight. In isiZulu, the word refers to an elder or grandfather, symbolising wisdom, legacy, and the passing down of knowledge across generations. The meaning has already sparked conversation among fans and commentators, many of whom expect the album to explore themes such as heritage, personal growth, fatherhood, resilience, and the responsibilities that come with influence in modern South Africa.
The project will mark Big Zulu’s first major solo studio album in a while. It follows the success of collaborative Inkabi Nation releases that featured artists like Mduduzi Ncube, Lwah Ndlunkulu, Siya Ntuli, and Xowla.
