Ghana Strengthens Online Child Protection With CSA-UNICEF Initiative

Ghana is strengthening efforts to protect children from online sexual exploitation and abuse following a two-day stakeholder workshop organised by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA)  in collaboration with UNICEF Ghana. 

The Consultative and Validation Workshop brought together key national stakeholders to review Ghana’s response to Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OCSEA) and identify areas requiring stronger intervention.

Discussions focused on improving coordination among institutions involved in child online protection, strengthening prevention and response mechanisms, and building the capacity of frontline personnel dealing with cases of online abuse.

Stakeholders also called for interventions to better reflect conditions at both national and district levels, recognising the different challenges communities may face in addressing online threats against children.

Participants provided recommendations and contextual insights to strengthen the evaluation findings and guide future programmes.

The engagement forms part of broader efforts by the CSA and UNICEF Ghana to improve the country’s online child protection ecosystem and strengthen its ability to prevent, identify and respond to emerging digital risks affecting children.
