Born an Alabama baby, raised an Indiana boy, became a Statesman to the Nation of the United States and a Global Statesman to the World encapsulates the journey of Indiana’s first African American Teacher of the Year and The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Honoree, Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood. Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood is affectionally known as “The Father of Possibleology® and Possibility Education Awareness.” Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood will be celebrated on Saturday, February 22nd on his receiving the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, signed by the 46th President Joseph R Biden for his years of service and global impact.
The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award is a prestigious honor recognizing individuals who have demonstrated a lifelong commitment to impacting and making a tremendous difference in their community with 4,000 hours of volunteer service over their lifetime. This is the highest award that one can receive in the United States of America. With this honor, Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood received a Presidential Certificate signed by President Joseph R. Biden, a gold pin, and a personalized letter of recognition from the President, the highest man in Power after GOD. In attendance, there will be many coming from all over the United States to celebrate and honor Dr. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood including special guest, worshipper, recording artist, and Grammy-nominated Todd Dulaney.
Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood's life has been one of serving and helping those who have come in contact with him to recognize the potential that GOD has placed in them. Therefore, they cannot be marginalized by society but look within to see the limitless possibilities that would cause them to dream and believe GOD enough to do the sweat equity to leave this world a better place than they have found it. In 2021, Dr. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood formerly acknowledged his life’s work, service to humanity, and deposit of Personal Possibility Awareness in all levels of education, as well as GOD’S Grace on his life as “The Father of Possibleology® and Possibility Education Awareness.”

Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood is the Apostle, Pastor, and Founder of The Destiny Dome Embassy at Cathedral of Praise, Int’l, GOD’S I Am Possible Church of Hope. He is also the Founder and Headmaster of Cornerstone Christian College Prep Day and High School Int’l, GOD’S I Am Possible School of Hope which operates out of two modalities: The Physical Campus and The Cyber Global Campus that through Anointed Technology students in the Philippines are able attend C-Prep without leaving their country. Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood is also the Founder and President of Cornerstone Christian Bible College (CCBCI-Global), GOD’S I AM Possible Bible College of Hope. Many from around the world have received degrees or honorary degrees including A.C. Green, former Basketball NBA Player, Dr. Mathew Knowles, an American Record Executive and cousin to Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood, and Karl Reid, a member of the Grammy award-winning gospel group, Commissioned.
Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood has received numerous Awards and Honors as a result of his dedication and faithfulness to making the world a better place. This cannot be erased from history. In 1977, Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood made history by becoming Indiana's first African American Teacher of the Year. That same year, he was nominated for National Teacher of the Year. His dedication to GOD, education, leadership, and excellence continues throughout his life. He was also chosen to write the curriculum for the Fort Wayne, Indiana Magnet schools. In 1982, He accepted a Principalship at Ralph J. Bunche Elementary School. He went on record reversing the conditions of Bunche Elementary by implementing the “Underwood Model,” within two years, helping students realize “that they matter” and that they too can learn without limitations. In 1998, he spoke before the United States Congressional Committee on Small Businesses about his teaching methods and philosophy. He was also named Indiana Businessman of the Year in 1999 and received the Claes Nobel Educator of Distinction award in 2018. In 2016, “Burden of Hope,” written by Dr. OJNDU was featured at Frankfurt Book Fair in Frankfurt, Germany. In 2022, Dr. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood introduced former Vice-President Mike Pence at the Allen County GOP Reagan Bean Dinner. Dr. Oscar Nelson Dowdell-Underwood’s latest award, in 2024, was The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award to summarize just a few of his honors, awards, and achievements.

One of the greatest blessings of honoring Dr. Oscar J. Nelson Dowdell-Underwood with this Inspirational Spotlight is that I get to call him grandfather, pastor, and mentor to name a few of his roles in my life.
