‘Tis the season for the White House to finally unveil the highly anticipated Christmas decorations! When tensions high in the nation and President Donald Trump’s approval rating consistently dropping, a lot was riding on this year for the Trump family to do Christmas like never before!
From an impressive gingerbread house replica to the Marine Band’s performance, folks can visit the White House in all of its glory for the first time since Trump completely destroyed the East Wing for his vanity project– aka his massive ballroom. With this year’s theme being “Home is Where the Heart Is,” First Lady Melania Trump has officially given the public an inside scoop on Christmas at the Trump White House… so, of course, The Root is dishing on all of it with you!
A Grand Entrance

As soon as you enter the White House, you’re met by a stunning display of Christmas garlands and trees straight from Wonderland. Cross Hall is one of the most visited parts of the White House.

But if you thought just a couple of Christmas trees were enough… then think again. The entire hall is adorned with trees of all sizes. And the lights reflect beautifully off the tiled floor.
150 Volunteers to Complete

According to reports, 150 volunteers worked for one week to complete the president’ vision. There are over 25,000 feet of ribbon, 120 pounds of gingerbread and over 10,000 butterflies as part of the display.
White House Tours Resume

White House tours were canceled and postponed in light of Trump’s demolition of the East Wing. But since it’s Christmas time, folks can once again tour the White House in full– well, except for the traditional East Wing decorations of course.
Blue Room Tree

It’s tradition that the 18-foot White House Christmas be in the Blue Room. This year was no exception, but given the ongoing construction of the East Wing, the White House decorators got creative with the rest of the displays.

There are over 50 massive ornaments on the Blue Room tree. Each one is for every single U.S. state. The golden lights pay respect to the Golden soldiers across the country.

Throughout the display are references to First Lady Trump’s “Fostering the Future” initiative to improve the foster care system in the country.

Of course there’s a gingerbread replica of the White House too! From the reefs on the windows to the placement of the trees outside, this edible version is basically an exact copy of the real thing.

The Green Room holds portraits of President Trump and President George Washington made completely of puzzle pieces for an… interesting comparison between the two leaders.
