DAR ES SALAAM: WITH three weeks to go before the commencement of the 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), preparations are gathering momentum as organizers finalize arrangements for one of East Africa’s most anticipated trade and investment events.
The golden jubilee edition of the fair is expected to draw thousands of exhibitors, business leaders, investors, and visitors from across the globe, providing a strategic platform to showcase innovation, strengthen commercial partnerships, and promote economic development.
The Tanzania Trade Development Authority (TanTrade) has announced that the landmark 50th edition of the DITF will run for 16 days from June 28 to July 13, at the Mwalimu Julius Nyerere Trade Fair Grounds, popularly known as Sabasaba, in Dar es Salaam.
TanTrade Director General, Dr Latifa Khamis told the `Daily News’ yesterday that they are expecting more than 5,000 exhibitors and over 550,000 visitors from Tanzania and abroad.
“More than 30 countries have already confirmed participation in this year’s exhibition, reinforcing the growing international significance of the DITF as a platform for trade, investment, innovation and industrial partnerships,” she said.
According to Dr Khamis, over 200 companies from China alone are expected to participate, reflecting strengthening trade and investment ties between the country and global markets.
“This year’s exhibition is expected to be vibrant and highly competitive, driven by strong participation from both local and international exhibitors. We are committed to ensuring a business-friendly environment and delivering quality services to all participants and visitors,” she said.
The exhibition comes at a time when the country is intensifying efforts to attract foreign investment, expand exports and position itself as a regional commercial hub under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Dr Khamis added that the trade fair will create opportunities for domestic businesses to access emerging markets in countries such as Russia and Turkey, particularly in the agricultural sector.
“This is more than a trade exhibition. It serves as a strategic platform for local entrepreneurs and producers to engage with international buyers, investors and technology partners, opening opportunities for market expansion, investment and technology transfer,” she added.
To improve efficiency and reduce congestion, TanTrade has introduced an online registration system for exhibitors and participants, allowing easier access to services before and during the event.

Over the years, the DITF has grown into East Africa’s leading trade exhibition, offering businesses opportunities to showcase products and services, secure new markets and build international commercial partnerships.
