Another Fela Kuti Plaque unveiled in London

By Eugene Smith – A new Plaque in tribute to Nigerian Activist and Godfather of Afro-Beat Fela Kuti was unveiled in London.

On the first day of November 2021, the Nubian Jak Community Trust in the United Kingdom has once again honoured late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti with another new plaque.

The first plaque was placed earlier this year at the music college in Greenwich where Fela first lived when he came to the UK in 1958 to study music.

This latest plaque is erected at a house where Fela lived while studying music. Stanlake Road Shepards Bush, Hammersmith London W12 was a home to the Afro beat legend.

It was a warm fun loving crowd that gathered to show their respect, love and appreciation for Fela and his music.

Fela’s Afro Beat was played throughout ceremony to the delight of the attendees.

Shalewa Anikulapo-Kuti Fela’s youngest daughter from his first marriage with Jak Beula (Nubian Jak) addressing the crowd.
