Cirrus Unlisted Investments (Cirrus) has completed an equity funding transaction to acquire a significant minority stake in Ultimate Safaris.
The investment was structured through a Namibia Financial Institutions Supervisory Authority-registered special purpose vehicle.
Cirrus managing director Erik de Waal says the decision to invest was driven by Ultimate’s track record of community empowerment and conservation.
“Namibia has vast potential to become a world-leading high-end tourism destination, and we see the potential for extensive growth in this space.
“Ultimate is well positioned to play a significant role in driving this growth, creating quality jobs and opportunities across Namibia,” he says.
Ultimate Safaris involves lodge accommodation and wilderness tours.
Managing director Tristan Cowley says the capital injection comes at a pivotal time as global travel trends increasingly favour Namibia as a premier destination.
The funding is set to accelerate Ultimate Safaris’ expansion plans.
“We value our new partnership with Cirrus, whose approach and ethos align strongly with the way we conduct our business,” Cowley says.
