Former President John Magufuli’s Mother, Suzana, dies
Jesca Magufuli, who is the daughter of the former President, revealed that their grandmother, Suzana Mussa Magufuli, passed away at around 19:00 hours of Monday, the 25th of May 2026.

The mother of the former President of Tanzania, the late John Pombe Magufuli has died at her home in Chato District of Geita Region within the Lake Zone.
Members of her family have confirmed.
Mama Suzana Magufuli, according to her granddaughter Jesca Magufuli, passed away on the Monday night of May, 25, 2026.
She apparently has been sick for quite some time. Her age was not disclosed during the death announcement.
Jesca Magufuli, who is the daughter of the former President, revealed that their grandmother, Suzana Mussa Magufuli, passed away at around 19:00 hours of Monday, the 25th of May 2026.
Jesca who is also serving as a special seat Member of Parliament added that the family will announce the process for their grandmother’s funeral and burial at a later stage.
The late Suzana Magufuli’s death has occurred five years after the demise of her son, the famed President John Pombe Magufuli who died on the 17th of March 2021.
Former President Magufuli, led Tanzania from November 2015 after winning the General Elections until his sudden death in March 2021.
Magufuli’s daughter, Jesca who was nominated a special seat Member of Parliament seems to be the only child who followed their father’s footsteps in politics. Magufuli had seven children.
Meanwhile the Magufuli family is yet to release the entire program for Mama Suzanna’s funeral proceedings and burial arrangements, though she will definitely also be buried in Chato just like her son John, the former President.
