Helping dads stay connected: LEYF donates 150 books to HMP Brixton

Children from LEYF Brixton Garden Nursery & Pre-School, other LEYF nurseries, and local parents have donated nearly 150 books to HMP Brixton, prioritising high-interest non-fiction plus titles on parenting, mental health and child development.

The donation, part of LEYF Christmas campaign, builds on LEYF’s ongoing work supporting children with a parent in prison and championing the importance of staying connected and being a good dad, even from behind bars.

Dr June O’Sullivan OBE, CEO of LEYF says:

“Books are a lifeline. They give people dignity, hope and a way to make sense of their lives.

This donation is about more than books. It’s about supporting families when a parent is in prison, and helping dads stay connected to their children through learning, reflection and better parenting, even behind bars.

If we want children to thrive, we can’t ignore the impact of imprisonment on family life.”
