The Junior Calypso Committee has officially launched this year’s Junior Calypso Competition and unveiled the line-up of young contestants set to take part.
The committee and chair Kasem Thompson brought together parents, sponsors, stakeholders and supporters of Anguilla’s vibrant calypso tradition for a media launch on 28 May.
During the event, the contestants officially signed their participation agreement and were formally sashed, marking the beginning of their journey toward the 2026 contest.

Each participant was also given the opportunity to draw and select their performance number for the competition, the Anguilla Summer Festival team said in a press release.
“The moment generated excitement among contestants and attendees alike, further building anticipation for what promises to be an outstanding showcase of young calypso talent,” it read.
The contenders are:
- Sabria Richardson – Singing Sabbie
- Andeja Bremner – Princess Paige
- Xaiya Gibbons – Singing Xai
- Andirian Fleming – Lil Skippa
- Aaliyah Webster-Robinson – Lil Stinger
- Tsehai Carty – Calypso Ray
- Liam Connor – Mighty Justice
“These young performers represent the next generation of calypso talent and will showcase their creativity, stage presence and lyrical abilities as they compete for top honours at this year’s event,” the festival team said.

During the event Thompson thanked the committee’s sponsors, partners and key stakeholders for their continued support and commitment to the development of young calypso talent.
He said this year’s competition promises to be dynamic, energetic and entertaining, showcasing the creativity, confidence and cultural pride of Anguilla’s young people.
Also addressing the gathering was Anguilla Summer Festival chair, Fitzroy Tomlinson, who commended Thompson and the committee for the excellent organisation and execution of the launch event.
He expressed his delight at the impressive number of participants registered for this year’s competition and said the enthusiasm displayed is a clear indication of a bright future of calypso in Anguilla.
The Junior Calypso Competition will take place on 30 July at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre in The Valley, during the Anguilla Summer Festival celebrations.
Sabria Richardson, known as Singing Sabbie, is the defending monarch having won the crown two years in a row.
