By Zoila Palma: On August 16, 2026, the People’s United Party (PUP) held its municipal convention in Punta Gorda Town (PG) to select its mayoral candidate and six councilor candidates for the 2027 Municipal Elections. The convention took place at the Toledo Community College from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
According to the PUP, 1,233 ballots were cast, with the party describing the turnout as the “largest municipal convention recorded in the history of PG.”
Following the close of polls and the counting of ballots, Maclovio Ack emerged victorious as the PUP’s mayoral candidate for the 2027 Municipal Elections in Punta Gorda Town.
The PUP also congratulated the six successful councilor candidates, namely Gloria Avila, Anthony Fuentes, Kerlin Moreira, Olivia Sho, Indira Coleman and Roberto Virez. Avila topped the polls among the councilor candidates.
The party also extended appreciation to the mayoral and councilor candidates who were unsuccessful at the PG convention, commending them for their participation and contribution to the party’s democratic process.
