The Soufrière Super League (SSL) — an inter-hotel charity football tournament — held its official Cheque Presentation Ceremony on November 28, at the Soufrière Hospital, to add to its commitment to the community.
This year’s tournament saw the participation of teams from Sugar Beach A Viceroy Resort, Anse Chastanet/Jade Mountain, Hotel Chocolat, Ladera Resort, Stonefield Resort, the Soufrière Foundation, Coconut Bay, and the Soufrière Veterans, with the support of members of the Soufrière Stadium Management Committee. Their efforts raised funds to support two major beneficiaries:
- The Soufrière Hospital Triage Renovation Project, and
- Jerell Paul, a young Soufrière resident requiring urgent heart surgery.
Speaking on behalf of the league, James Holah, COO of Hotel Chocolat and SSL Representative, emphasised the power of unity: “This donation reflects our shared commitment to the health, wellbeing and future of Soufrière. We are proud to stand with our partners in support of our community.”
The donation was received by the Soufrière Hospital team. Principal Nursing Officer Alicia Alexander highlighted the significance of the support: “This contribution is deeply appreciated. Renovating our triage area will significantly enhance the care we provide during emergencies. On behalf of the hospital, thank you for helping us improve the services our people depend on.”
Last year, the league raised over $10 000 to assist the Soufrière Fishermen’s Co-operative after the devastation of Hurricane Beryl.
