To celebrate America’s 250th, Moment asked performers, experts and music lovers to talk about iconic songs written or composed by Jews that help tell the story of America. “Jewish songwriters wrote about baseball, Christmas, patriotism, romance and home not because they had necessarily inherited those things, but because they were studying them and imagining their way into them,” says jazz pianist and Soundtrack 250 co-editor Joe Alterman, executive director of Neranenah.
