Afrika Mayibuye unveils LGE candidates, contesting over 4 000 wards
The party will be contesting over 4 000 wards in the upcoming local government elections.

The Afrika Mayibuye Movement has marked its first anniversary by announcing some of its mayoral candidates in Gauteng – one of the country’s most fiercely contested provinces.
Party leader Floyd Shivambu says the candidates were selected following an extensive consultation process with communities.
The party will be contesting over 4 000 wards in the upcoming local government elections.
This comes as the Afrika Mayibuye Movement prepares for the launch of its manifesto ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections.
With two months to go before election day, the party has announced some of its mayoral candidates in Gauteng.
While party leader remained tight-lipped about the party’s Johannesburg mayoral candidate, Prince Mokotedi has been named as its candidate for Tshwane. In Ekurhuleni, Themba Lukhele, affectionately known as Skeem GP, will carry the party’s flag.
The party says its candidate selection process is driven by consultations with its members, supporters and communities.
Addressing party members, Shivambu also took a swipe at his political opponents.
