Aux Lyons Mothers and Fathers Group Marks 51 Years with Church Donation, Expands Community Mission

For the Aux Lyons Mothers and Fathers Group, celebrating 51 years was never just about looking back. It was about making an even greater difference in the lives of others.

The community organization has already touched the lives of 58 families and schools through a series of outreach initiatives this year, providing financial assistance, food hampers, clothing and back-to-school supplies to those in need. The milestone anniversary became another opportunity to deepen that commitment, with members presenting two 60-inch flat-screen televisions and a pair of cordless microphones to the Aux Lyons Catholic Church during a Thanksgiving Mass on Saturday night.

The donation is expected to enhance the worship experience by improving visibility and communication during church services, while reinforcing the group’s commitment to supporting both its parish family and the wider Aux Lyons community.

Members say the anniversary also prompted reflection on the group’s evolving role and the importance of responding to the changing needs of both the church and the community. While continuing their tradition of charitable giving, they have also focused on strengthening the parish by investing in equipment that will benefit worshippers for years to come.

Their impact has extended well beyond the church walls. Through Mother’s Day and Father’s Day initiatives, the group reached dozens of families and educational institutions, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring that support reaches those who need it most. From financial contributions and food hampers to clothing and school supplies, the organization has embraced a mission centred on compassion, service and community upliftment.

That work is far from over.

The Aux Lyons Mothers and Fathers Group is now preparing for a Back-to-School Drive on Saturday, August 22, to help students begin the new academic year with the supplies they need. The group will also spearhead a community Clean-Up and Beautification Campaign across Aux Lyons on September 5 before hosting a Health Fair on October 10, expanding its focus from charitable assistance to community wellness and civic pride.

As it embarks on its next chapter, the Aux Lyons Mothers and Fathers Group says its greatest achievement is not simply reaching 51 years of existence, but continuing to create meaningful change through service. With every donation, outreach initiative and community project, the organization is proving that its legacy is measured not by time, but by the lives it continues to impact.
