April's offerings could be viewed as a legacy celebration. That's especially true of Corey Harris, Alvin Youngblood Hart, Guy Davis’s new collaboration, Fight On, True Blues Vol 2. This month also features new releases from Texas Tornado Freddie King (whose live set is still the gold standard for aspiring blues persons), Curtis Salgado, who lent his blues knowledge to John Belushi for the Blues Brothers movie, and yet another delightfully different-flavored offering from veteran Stacy Mitchhart. Stacy Mitchhart - No Rhyme Or Reason, April 17
Stacy Mitchhart has been wielding his guitar across country, blues, jazz, R&B, and rock numbers for decades. For his 17th release, Mitchhart brought some distinguished guests to help out.
Gretchen Wilson stops by on “You Sure Look Good To Me.” The two have a 30-year friendship that dates back to her waitressing days in Nashville when she would get up and sing with Mitchhart's band. Wilson adds considerable change-up to the tune, laying in some serious honky-tonkin.' And Charlie Musselwhite puts his blessing on a newly formed friendship with Mitchhart, guesting on “Flip It To The Other Side,” a Tony Joe White-flavored swamp thumper.
