Recently, George Monger, Founder and President of Connect Music, stepped into Atlanta’s creative scene with his humble essence and his undeniable passion to turn the tables in the music industry. A celebration hosted at The Vault, a space where elegance meets culture, is clearly rooted in Black Excellence. The evening brought together media, creatives, and industry insiders to get a closer look at what Monger is building.
With support from sponsors like West End Gin, a citrus-forward contemporary craft gin, created and founded by Dr. Dawn Wade and Stacey Wade, to link premium spirits with community uplift. At the event, Stacey stated that there were two gins, The Original aka, the “OG,” and the Rose Ann Edition, and made it very clear that this is not our typical grandaddy gin that tastes like rubbing alcohol; it’s a delicacy made for us, by us.
The night that carried purpose and presence.
As it progressed, I had the honor to speak directly with Monger and his plans for Atlanta, and its artists, and he made it clear that he sees Atlanta as a true hub for creativity. He has his eyes on many artists and is looking forward to working with them directly. Even while there, Monger circulated, speaking directly to independent artists and creatives who shape the sound of today’s music industry.
But what makes Monger stand out isn’t just where he is showing up, but it’s what he is building.
Through Connect Music, he’s working to change how artists move in the industry. The platform focuses on giving creators access to resources like funding, distribution, and data, all without stripping them of their ownership. This is a historical milestone for artists, especially in a space where they had to give up control to get ahead.
And clearly, people are paying attention.
Monger recently secured $80 million in venture capital, a major move that speaks to the confidence behind his vision. When I asked him how he made it happen, he expressed that it takes a strong underwriter and, more importantly, real proof that the company delivers for its customers, making sure that capital gets into their pockets. This proves that it is not just an idea that he had; he’s actually showing results.
Alongside the celebration of Connect Music to Atlanta’s media scene, guests also celebrated a personal moment: the birthday of Monger’s brother, Charles Monger. The room shifted in the best way when singer and songwriter Nivea stepped in with a heartfelt “Happy Birthday,” adding warmth and soul to an already meaningful evening. The best part was witnessing that George did not mind sharing the spotlight; he welcomed it.
At its core, the event was about genuine connections, real conversations, and opening doors. Monger in Atlanta was the beginning of a relationship with the city that understands greatness, now bridging the importance of owning it.
