International News: Israel and Honduras deepen defense ties with new Memorandum of Understanding

By Zoila Palma:  Israel and Honduras have signed a new Memorandum of Understanding aimed at deepening defense and security cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement was signed on Sunday, August 16, by Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz and Honduras’ Defense Minister Enrique Rodríguez Burchard, according to Israel’s Defense Ministry.

The signing followed wide-ranging security discussions involving senior officials from both countries, Yahoo reports.

Discussions covered shared strategic and security concerns, opportunities to expand cooperation and lessons Israel has learned from its recent conflicts.

Honduran officials were also briefed on Israel’s defense activities and aspects of its defense industry.

Israel’s Defense Ministry described Honduras as an important partner in Central America and said the agreement forms part of a broader effort to expand Israel’s defense partnerships, strengthen strategic relationships with friendly countries and increase cooperation between Israeli defense industries and international markets.

Honduras has maintained close diplomatic ties with Israel and has supported the country in international forums.
