By Zoila Palma: The management team of the SICA General Secretariat participated in the transfer of the Pro Tempore Presidency of SICA from the Dominican Republic to Belize on June 26, 2026.
The Executive Director of the SICA General Secretariat, Ingrid Figueroa, highlighted the Dominican Republic’s leadership during the current semester, a period in which initiatives were actively promoted that contributed to energizing and strengthening the System.
“We also wish the Government of Belize every success and reiterate our ongoing commitment to providing technical support to continue building consensus, promoting flagship initiatives, and strengthening this important shared project: the integration of the SICA region,” a statement from SICA said.
“We firmly believe that the future of Central America and the Dominican Republic is better built on unity than fragmentation; on solidarity than isolation; and on joint action than individual efforts,” Figueroa said.
