“While the folks on the other side are going to spend the next month mired in their own mess, we are proceeding with unprecedented unity and unprecedented determination to get out the vote like never before, and it begins right here today with all of us right here in DeKalb County, and it will continue out across the state of Georgia. We are beginning earlier than ever before with unprecedented unity and determination because the stakes have never been higher.”
Today, Senator Jon Ossoff joined a packed room of more than a hundred field organizers and volunteers to kick off a canvass launch at the Democratic Party of Georgia Coordinated Campaign’s first field office opening of the 2026 midterms in South DeKalb.
During his remarks Senator Ossoff went on offense to underscore how Georgia Democrats are building huge organizational strength by starting the Coordinated campaign earlier than ever before while Republican chaos continues in runoff elections in both the U.S. Senate and Governor races.
The Senator also highlighted how Democrats are unified heading into November, including that he will hold a rally in Atlanta as the first major event of his re-election campaign following the May 19th primary in Georgia, joined by gubernatorial nominee Keisha Lance Bottoms and Dr. Jamal Bryant of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.
The canvass kickoff marked the opening of Democrats’ first field office of the 2026 cycle in South DeKalb. This is the first time Democrats have begun statewide organizing efforts from South DeKalb, underscoring the party’s commitment to showing up in base communities early and refusing to take any vote for granted.
“The contrast could not be clearer. The choice could not be clearer. It is a moral choice that we have the power to make. And I’ll tell you what, with everything happening in our country right now, there has never been a moment when restoring checks and balances is more important. There has never been a moment when constraining the power of an out-of-control president is more important, and it’s all going to come down to Georgia again. This race will be decided by just a couple of percent, but we’ve been here before. We’ve done this before. The whole country is counting on us,” said Sen. Ossoff.
