Which parts of South Africa saw the most snow on Monday?
For every snow chaser who spent Monday refreshing forecasts and group chats, here's a look at exactly where the white stuff actually landed.

If you spent Monday, 10 August glued to your phone the way I did, you already know the day delivered.
This wasn’t a “maybe it’ll snow somewhere” kind of system. It actually showed up, and in some places, it showed up properly.
The southern Drakensberg stole the show
Snow covered parts of the Drakensberg on Monday after heavy rain and cold weather swept across KwaZulu-Natal, with authorities monitoring roads and flood-prone communities across Sani Pass, Mount Fletcher, Kokstad and Underberg.
Photos from Rietspruit farm near Swartberg in the southern Drakensberg showed snow blanketing gardens, with cows sheltering under trees and a peacock surveying the white-covered farmyard.
Snow was also captured at Drakensberg Gardens, north of Underberg. Photos also emerged along the N2 route through the Kokstad and Harding section.
If you were chasing snow anywhere near the southern Drakensberg on Monday, this was almost certainly your best shot at catching it properly.
The Eastern Cape’s highlands weren’t far behind
The South African Weather Service had already flagged this one clearly.
It issued an Orange Level 6 warning for disruptive snow over the Chris Hani District, Senqu, Elundini and Matatiele municipalities, valid until Tuesday.
SAWS also confirmed damaging winds and waves along the KwaZulu-Natal coast. That made for an already dramatic day across the province.
For anyone weighing up where to chase next time, two regions delivered the most.
The southern Drakensberg and the Eastern Cape’s highland municipalities led the way.
My honest take, as a snow chaser myself
I know exactly what it feels like to watch these warnings roll in one after another and try to guess where to actually point your car.
Monday’s photos from Rietspruit farm are proof that sometimes the reward is worth every hour spent refreshing a forecast.
