Yanga cautious of Gaborone

DAR ES SALAAM: YOUNG Africans will be looking to use home advantage into a decisive result when they face Botswana’s Gaborone United today at the Azam Complex in Dar es Salaam in a crucial CAF Champions League return-leg encounter.

The two sides played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Botswana last Saturday, with Gaborone taking the lead before Yanga new striker, Selemani Mwalimu, struck deep into stoppage time to rescue a valuable draw for the Tanzanian champions.

Speaking at a Press Conference Yanga Head Coach Manqoba Mngqithi (pictured) said his team is fully prepared for the decisive encounter, warning that Gaborone United could prove dangerous if given enough space and time.

Mngqithi noted that his players have made adequate preparations for the crucial encounter and are aware of the threat posed by their opponents.

The South African tactician believes the team’s preparations have put Yanga in a strong position to approach the match with confidence as they seek a positive result in front of their home supporters.

“Gaborone United is a dangerous team whenever you give them the space and time to play.

We know what they are capable of and that is why we have to be very careful throughout the game,” he said. He added:

“We have studied them well and understand the areas where they can hurt us.

For us, the most important thing is to remain focused, disciplined and committed from the first minute until the final whistle.

“We know what is at stake and we have prepared ourselves well for the challenge.

It will not be an easy game, but we are ready to compete and fight for the result we want.”

Gaborone United Head Coach Sean Connor said they expect a difficult but entertaining encounter against Yanga, that they respect the Tanzanian giants because of the quality of their coach and the pace of their players.

Connor said his side have prepared well and will be determined to ensure they do not lose the match.

“We respect Yanga because of the quality of their coach and their players, especially their pace, but we have prepared ourselves well to make sure we do not lose this game,” Connor said.
