Bunge unanimously approve Ndejembi’s Vice President nomination

DODOMA:  THE National Assembly has unanimously endorsed the nomination of Chama cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Stewarts and Energy Minister Deogratius Ndejembi to be the next Tanzania’s Vice Preisent with all 324 lawmakers who voted backing his appointment, representing 100 percent support.

Ndejembi was confirmed today, August 28, 2026, during the Fourth Meeting, Third Session of the 16th Parliament in Dodoma, following his nomination by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to fill the position left vacant by former Vice President Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, who resigned from the post.

Before his name was presented to Parliament, Ndejembi was proposed by the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and subsequently appointed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to take up the position.

Speaking shortly after Parliament approved his appointment, Ndejembi pledged that he would not serve as the Vice President of CCM alone, but as the Vice President of all Tanzanians, regardless of their political affiliations or parties.

Ndejembi also thanked President Samia Suluhu Hassan for trusting him and giving him the opportunity to serve as her deputy in leading the United Republic of Tanzania.

With all 324 lawmakers voting in his favour, Ndejembi secured 100 percent of the votes cast in Parliament.

Before his appointment, Ndejembi served as Minister for Energy and as the Member of Parliament for Chamwino Constituency in Dodoma Region, representing CCM.

His confirmation officially places Ndejembi in the position of Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania, succeeding Dr Emmanuel Nchimbi, who resigned from the position.
