City Hall to host Asian-American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month event TOMORROW – Friday, May 1

To mark the beginning of Asian-American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month (May 1 to May 31), the City of Milwaukee’s Asian-American & Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group (AAPI ERG) will host a kick-off celebration tomorrow (Friday, May 1) at City Hall, 200 E. Wells St., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The month serves as a time to recognize and celebrate the many contributions and extensive history of the Asian-American & Pacific Islander community, and the event at City Hall tomorrow will feature guest speakers, performers, a cultural display, music, food and refreshments. A short program will occur at 11:30 a.m. in the City Hall rotunda, sponsored by Alderwoman Sharlen P. Moore.

Media coverage is invited.

Alderwoman Moore said the first-ever event of its kind at City Hall celebrating Asian-American & Pacific Islander culture is free and not to be missed. “I want to thank the Asian-American & Pacific Islander Employee Resource Group for all of their hard work and their commitment to putting together what should be a very festive and enjoyable event for the community at City Hall,” she said.

“I really hope people from across Milwaukee will join us at City Hall tomorrow,” the Alderwoman said.
