This track marks his return to contemporary jazz after a two-year hiatus following personal loss. A Soulful Reimagining of a Classic
The original “Love Ballad” became famous for Jeffrey Osborne‘s lead vocal and was written by the late, great Skip Scarborough. Percell transforms the song into an instrumental smooth jazz piece. His warm tone, melodic phrasing, and relaxed contemporary groove honor the original while making it entirely his own. Grammy-nominated producer Chris “Big Dog” Davis handled production for Upward Bound Music Group.
