Kenny Chesney’s New Album ‘Silver Sands Marina’ Is Coming: Here’s the Release Date
The album marks his 21st project.
Kenny Chesney is gearing up to release his 21st album, Silver Sands Marina, on Sept. 25. The Buddy Cannon and Chesney-produced 11-song project will mark Country Music Hall of Famer Chesney’s first on his new independent label Hey Now Records, which launched earlier this year.
The project is spearheaded by its first single, “Carry On,” which marked Chesney’s 100th entry on the Billboard Hot Country songs chart. Silver Sands Marina features songs written by top-shelf Nashville songwriters including Tony Lane, Tenille Townes, Matraca Berg, Shane McAnally, Brett James, Jessie Jo Dillon and Adam Wright.
Guests on the album include Colbie Caillat, Lily Meola and Megan Moroney. Chesney previously teamed with Moroney on her song “You Had to Be There.”
“I love everything about music, but especially how it makes you feel,” Chesney said in a statement. “It can crack open a tough moment, lift you up, blow you up and make you laugh harder than anything. When I started thinking about all the things music can be, a few songs came in — and Silver Springs Marina, as it now exists, took shape. Some great players, guests who really fit the songs, but especially some places I’ve never gone.”
Chesney just released the new album’s title track, written by Johnny Clawson and Kyle Sturrock, saying, “It is such a well-written song. You can smell the fall in the air, the lake and that solitude. Everyone’s so busy rushing, you miss most of the small details — and everything that happens around them. But in ‘Silver Sands Marina,’ not only do the details hold the song in place, they remind you that the magic happens in the simplest, realest places: You just have to be open to letting it happen.”
Chesney previously appeared on TalkShopLive to promote his New York Times bestselling book, Heart Life Music. He’ll return to TalkShopLive July 15 to discuss the process of creating his new album. Chesney also recently launched his second residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
