NBL Finals: KCCA Leopards tear down Magic Stormers to claim third place

KCCA Leopards put on a clinic of high-tempo basketball, blowing away the Magic Stormers 85-57 to secure a third-place finish in the 2026 Women’s National Basketball League season.

The Leopards set the tone right from tip-off, suffocating the Stormers early. Martha Soigi capped a relentless opening quarter with a smooth layup to hand KCCA a 25-10 lead, establishing a 15-point cushion that quickly set the momentum.

KCCA showed no signs of letting up in the second frame, launching immediately into a 4-0 run. Keeping their foot firmly on the gas pedal, the Leopards capitalised on turnovers and dominated the paint to stretch their lead to a staggering 31 points by the halftime break, effectively putting the contest out of reach.

The Magic Stormers showed signs of life following the mid-game break. Reorganising their defence, they managed to restrict the Leopards to just 11 points in the third quarter while chopping the deficit down to 17 points entering the final period.

Moreen Amoding scored a team-high 15 points while Daphine Adong added 14 points as the only Stormers players to cross double digits, but their third-quarter revival proved to be a temporary speed bump.

The Leopards regained complete control in the fourth frame, turning up the speed with devastating transition basketball to close out a commanding 28-point victory and seal the final podium position.

KCCA’s offensive machine was fueled by a balanced scoring display, led by Tracy Namugosa with 14 points, closely supported by Asinah Kabendera with 13 points and Lillian Cherotic with 12 points.

By combining explosive early scoring bursts with fluid transition play, the Leopards capped off their league campaign on a high note, underlining their squad depth as they claimed third place overall.
