After hearing Hlelo’s story, Austin Macaskill reached out to Siya Kolisi to help create a special day for the young Cape Town boy.
Cape Town, South Africa (31 May 2026) – A simple surprise turned into a deeply touching moment after content creator Austin Macaskill teamed up with Siya Kolisi to brighten the day of a young Cape Town boy facing serious health challenges.
The pair recently visited Hlelo, a young boy from Langa whose life has been shaped by chronic kidney disease and renal bone disease since he was just three months old. The conditions have affected his growth and ability to walk, with his mother, Samkelisiwe, doing everything she can to support him through ongoing medical treatment.
According to Austin, the family reached out through a mutual connection, asking for help in sharing Hlelo’s story and raising awareness around his treatment journey. But instead of simply posting about it online, he decided to do something more personal. And this is where Siya stepped in.
Austin revealed that the Springbok captain immediately agreed to help surprise Hlelo, with the pair putting together a collection of gifts. Siya arranged for the Kolisi Foundation to make a donation towards helping the family during this difficult period.
The heartwarming collaboration quickly resonated online, with many praising both Austin and Siya for using their platforms to bring attention and support a family going through an incredibly difficult journey.
