St Kitts Music Festival Continues to Drive Tourism and Economic Growth, Says Tourism Minister

The 28th edition of the St Kitts Music Festival has once again reinforced its position as one of the Federation’s leading tourism and economic drivers, according to Minister of Tourism Hon. Marsha Henderson.

Speaking after the conclusion of the three-night event, Henderson described the festival as another major success despite logistical challenges during Friday night’s production changeovers.

“We’ve had three spectacular nights,” she said. “There were some issues with production and access to the venue, but that’s a good problem to have because it means the festival continues to grow by leaps and bounds.”

She said the Ministry and organizers will review this year’s operations to improve the visitor experience as attendance continues to increase.

Henderson noted that the festival was originally created to boost visitor arrivals during the traditional tourism shoulder season, a goal she said it continues to achieve.

“Every time we host the music festival, we conduct an economic impact assessment to measure its contribution to the economy,” she explained. “The festival continues to fill our hotels, put heads in beds, fill airline seats and stimulate economic activity across the destination.”

She added that the government’s broader tourism strategy is focused on transforming St Kitts into a year-round destination rather than one reliant on seasonal travel.

“We’re transitioning the purpose of events like this so that we have economic activity throughout the year. We’ve seen tremendous progress. The shoulder season used to begin in April, but now we’re seeing strong occupancy through May, June, July and even Restaurant Month in July.”

While acknowledging that September and October remain the Federation’s slowest tourism months, Henderson said significant progress has been made in extending visitor demand beyond the traditional peak season.

She also highlighted the festival’s role in strengthening St Kitts’ international profile, noting that several internationally renowned artistes have credited the event with helping to launch or elevate their careers.

“The festival has become an important part of our tourism product and our cultural identity,” she said.

With another successful edition complete, Henderson said organizers will now evaluate this year’s staging and identify improvements to ensure the St Kitts Music Festival continues to evolve while maintaining its reputation as one of the Caribbean’s longest-running and most respected music festivals.
