The Alumni Villages Land Project has officially launched its fifth phase in Kagoma Town Council, Jinja District, further strengthening efforts to empower young Ugandans through affordable land ownership.

The newly unveiled phase sits on 4 acres of land and marks another milestone for the fast-growing initiative, which has gained recognition for promoting social and community transformation among the youth.

Over the past six years, the project has steadily expanded across the country through four successful phases. The first phase was established in Namataba, Mukono District, covering 4.25 acres before later expanding by an additional 3.5 acres to a subtotal of 7.25 acres. The second phase was launched in Budaka District on 4.36 acres, while the third phase in Buikwe District started with 3 acres and later expanded by 0.425 acres, bringing it to 3.425 acres. The fourth phase was established in Mbarara City on 3 acres.

According to project leaders, the initiative has now secured over 26 acres of land nationwide, enabling more than 60 young people to acquire plots at subsidised prices, while over 230 members remain hopeful of benefiting from future allocations.

Speaking during the launch, Project Director Katto Paulo said the initiative is focused on creating long-term opportunities for young people through land ownership.

“This fifth phase reflects our continued commitment to creating opportunities for young people to invest in their future through land ownership. We are not just selling land; we are building communities,” he said.

The project has emerged as a practical response to the growing challenge of land affordability among Uganda’s youth, many of whom struggle to access property due to high market costs. Through affordable pricing and flexible payment arrangements, Alumni Villages has positioned itself as a platform for financial security and personal development.

Project Secretary John Lufafa said each phase has strengthened the project’s credibility and operational systems.

“Each phase has strengthened our systems and trust with members. The demand continues to grow because young people are seeing real value and long-term impact,” he explained.

Beneficiaries have also praised the initiative for transforming their lives. One of the members, Joanitah Nyanda, said owning land once seemed impossible.

“Being part of this project changed my life. Owning land felt impossible before, but now I am planning my future with confidence,” she said.

Publicity Manager Lule Eriah described the project as a movement that goes beyond land acquisition.

“The Alumni Villages Land Project is more than an investment platform—it is a movement driving social and community development among young Ugandans across the country,” he noted.

As the fifth phase takes shape in Jinja District, the Alumni Villages Land Project continues to demonstrate how youth-focused initiatives can address socio-economic challenges by improving access to land and promoting sustainable community development across Uganda.
