(AURN News) — According to The New York Times, former San Francisco 49ers All-Pro Aldon Smith spent the final morning of his life serving others.
On June 13, 2026, Smith helped deliver pizzas to a Bay Area homeless charity before his sudden death at age 36. No cause of death was announced.
Smith was once one of the NFL’s most feared defensive players, recording 44 sacks in 50 games with San Francisco and helping lead the 49ers to three consecutive NFC Championship Games.
Drafted seventh overall in 2011, he made an immediate impact and became one of the league’s brightest young stars.
After a brief return with the Dallas Cowboys in 2020, Smith later reflected publicly on regret, uncertainty and life after football.
His final public act was one of service, generosity and compassion. Rest in peace, Aldon Smith.
