Island Tribe unveils carnival presentation: Chess, Not Checkers!

Island Tribe Carnival band has officially launched its 2026 presentation, Chess, Not Checkers, describing it as a bold theme celebrating strategy, elegance and mastery on the grand stage of Saint Lucia Carnival.

The band invites revellers to step into a world where every move is intentional and every section tells a story.

Six striking sections will command the road: Witches of the Ninth, Grandmasters, Draconir, Halo Legion, Serpentis and Oceana – the latter a special collaboration with Allure Carnival of Canada.

Together, these portrayals capture calculated brilliance, blending fantasy, power and beauty in a spectacle designed for the modern carnival enthusiast, the band says.

Island Tribe says it is continuing to position Saint Lucia as a must-experience destination on the global carnival calendar, delivering an authentic Lucian carnival experience with a touch of local luxury.

For 2026, the band is forging regional partnerships to attract enthusiasts to the island while strengthening cultural connections across the Caribbean and beyond.

Registration for Island Tribe Carnival 2026 is now open.
