By Zoila Palma: This morning, the Belize Police Department, the Cadet corps and community members gathered for a Peace walk to stop gun violence.
Councilor Aaron Mai expressed gratitude to the Belize Police Department for organizing the peace walk in San Ignacio and Santa Elena.
“We also want to sincerely thank the people of San Ignacio and Santa Elena who came out to show their support. Your presence sent a powerful message: violence does not define our community, and together, we can stand against it.
It takes a community to stand together against the violence that seeks to plague our streets. Peace, safety, and unity are responsibilities we all share, and events like this remind us of the strength we have when we come together with a common purpose,” Mai said.
In addition, Mai said that once given the opportunity to serve as Mayor of San Ignacio and Santa Elena, the council would support initiatives aimed at preventing violence, promoting peace, and creating a safer San Ignacio and Santa Elena for everyone.
