TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO-CCJ Delegation to Visit European Union Court for Judicial Exchange.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC- A delegation from the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) will travel to Luxembourg from April 27 to 30, 2026, for an official knowledge-exchange visit with the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU), aimed at strengthening judicial cooperation and sharing best practices in court administration.

CCJ President Winston Anderson will lead the delegation and will include judges and senior court officials. During the visit, the team is expected to observe the CJEU’s operations and participate in high-level discussions on court governance, judicial administration, case management, and jurisprudential development.

The initiative reflects the shared responsibilities of both courts in supporting regional integration through the interpretation and application of treaty law. Officials noted that the CJEU’s extensive experience offers valuable comparative insights that can inform the CCJ’s ongoing development as a supranational judicial body.

The visit also aligns with key priorities outlined in the CCJ’s Strategic Plan 2025–2032, particularly those centered on judicial excellence, independence, and strengthening public trust through improved stakeholder engagement and efficient court operations.

As part of the program, the delegation will meet with senior figures of the European court system, including Koen Lenaerts, President of the CJEU, and Marc van der Woude, President of the General Court. The schedule also includes opportunities to observe courtroom proceedings and administrative processes.

The European Union has provided funding for the visit under the 11th European Development Fund.
