Two individuals were allegedly robbed of gold chains in separate incidents across Antigua last week, according to reports.
In the first incident, an 87-year-old man was reportedly attacked by two males at his Clark’s Hill residence at approximately 11:45 in the morning. According to reports, he was outside at the back of his property when two individuals allegedly jumped the fence on the northern side. One reportedly restrained him from behind while the other allegedly snatched a 14-karat gold chain from around his neck. The pair are then said to have fled on foot in a southern direction.
Reports indicate one of the alleged perpetrators stood approximately five feet eight inches tall, slimly built, and brown in complexion, while the other was described as approximately six feet in height, of medium build and dark in complexion.
Inquiries have since been conducted at the scene, with several persons interviewed. Sources indicate some useful information was obtained, though no arrests had been made at the time of the report. A search for individuals matching the given descriptions yielded no results.
In the second incident, a Villa resident was allegedly attacked outside her Bryson Street home at approximately 11:15 that same morning roughly half an hour before the Clark’s Hill incident. According to reports, the woman had just exited her vehicle when an unknown individual approached from behind and allegedly snatched a 14-karat gold necklace, valued at approximately US$100, from her neck before fleeing northward in a white vehicle.
Reports further indicate the woman sustained cuts and bruises to her neck as a result of the alleged attack, investigations into both matters are ongoing.
