A joint operation between Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of British Columbia (CFSEU-BC) and the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has led to Brandon Teixeira being sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment for murder with no chance of parole for 25 years and 14 years imprisonment for attempt murder.

In May of 2018, CFSEU-BC and IHIT began a joint investigation into an organized crime group involved in a series of homicides including the murder of Nicholas Khabra, 28. The investigation centered around multiple suspects including Teixeira.

On September 6, 2018, Teixeira was charged with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Khabra on October 23, 2017, in Surrey. A warrant was issued for his arrest. An attempt was made to arrest Teixeira; however, he was able to evade police.

On December 1, 2019, investigators from CFSEU-BC and IHIT partnered with the RCMP Liaison Officer and US Law Enforcement on information which led to Brandon Teixeira’s arrest in Oroville, California. On April 24, 2020, Brandon Teixeira was extradited back to Canada where he remained in custody for the Khabra homicide until his trial.

On August 25, 2025, at the conclusion of the jury trial in B.C. Supreme Court, Teixeira was found guilty of first-degree murder and attempt murder.

On April 1, 2026, Teixeira was sentenced as following:
• First degree murder of Khabra – sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.
• Attempt murder of ‘Person A’ – sentenced to 14 years imprisonment

“Today’s sentencing of Brandon Teixeira for first-degree murder delivers a measure of justice for the victim, their family, and the community. This outcome is the result of relentless investigative work and a strong, coordinated partnership between CFSEU-BC and IHIT. By working together, sharing intelligence, and staying focused on public safety, we were able to advance a complex investigation and ensure accountability. CFSEU-BC remains committed to working alongside IHIT and our policing partners to protect our communities and ensure those involved in gang violence are held accountable,” said Assistant Commissioner Manny Mann, Chief Officer of CFSEU-BC.

“This was a complex and demanding investigation, and this sentencing is reflective of the tremendous amount of work done by the teams at CFSEU-BC and IHIT,” says Superintendent Mandeep Mooker, Officer in Charge of IHIT. “Persistent and collaborative policing informed every step of this investigation and contributed significantly to this result. Today’s sentencing sends a strong and unmistakable message: violence will not be tolerated, and those responsible will be held accountable for the harm they bring to our communities.”

IHIT thanked its law enforcement and partner agencies for their dedication throughout the entirety of this file.
