CARICOM Mission: Saint Lucian electors voted transparently

The CARICOM mission that observed Saint Lucia’s general election says “electors were able to exercise their franchise in a peaceful, orderly and transparent manner”.

An official statement released on December 5 by the 11‑member mission cited positive takeaways from the voting process, including the timely opening of polling stations and the efficiency and professionalism of polling staff.

The delegation noted the presence of personal attacks and accusations during the campaign season, saying they “reflected the high stakes and dynamic evolving political landscape of the nation”.

The statement indicated that the mission “was not informed of, nor did it observe election‑related violence”.

“We congratulate the Saint Lucia Electoral Commission for its administration of the electoral process, and the political parties, their agents and supporters for the peaceful conduct displayed on Election Day,” the statement said.

A comprehensive final report, outlining detailed findings and recommendations, will be submitted to the Secretary‑General of CARICOM in the coming weeks, it added.
