Global media watchdog Reporters Without Borders said that the police action against the press was ‘unacceptable’.

The Delhi Police detained at least 11 journalists covering protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for the second consecutive day on Sunday.
Three journalists from The Indian Express Hindi, one from The Caravan, two from Peek TV and at least three journalists working with Malayalam news channels, including Reporter TV, 24 News and Asianet News, were also detained.
Journalist and content creator Shyam Meera Singh was also detained. His account on social media platform X was withheld in India on Sunday. It remained restricted, as of 1.15 pm on Monday.
The Indian Express reported that its journalists Shashwat, Siya and Vijay were detained while reporting from Connaught Place. They were taken to Chhatrasal Stadium and later released, the newspaper reported.
