An animal welfare day hosted by the Assisi SPCA and ARK Animal Rescue took a funny turn when a tired dog decided he was done walking and hopped in a pram!
Humansdorp, South Africa (01 June 2026) – If there’s one thing animals are experts at, it’s reminding us not to take life too seriously. They have a way of injecting big doses of happiness and unexpected humour into our days, exactly when we need it most.
During a recent routine follow-up inspection out in Kareedouw, the team from the Assisi SPCA joined forces with ARK Animal Rescue – Kareedouw & Langkloof. In a day of fieldwork, they ensured that local animals were safe and healthy. But one four-legged resident decided he had officially clocked off for the afternoon…
Having walked as far as his paws cared to carry him, the sweet pup spotted an empty pram nearby. Without a moment’s hesitation, he hopped straight into the carriage, curled up, and made himself comfortable.
“He jumped straight into a pram, got completely comfortable, and looked at Inspector Marisa and Michelle from ARK as if to say, ‘Alright, I’m ready for my afternoon stroll now!’”
It was a small moment that instantly brought a wave of laughter to a day of impact and outreach!
“Moments like this remind us how resilient, joyful, and full of personality animals truly are, no matter their circumstances.”
The SPCA and ARK teams often work together to bring animal welfare to surrounding Humansdorp, Kareedouw and Langkloof communities.
Recently, they teamed up to spay and neuter 53 animals – 28 dogs and 25 cats – giving them the gift of a healthier future and ensuring that there will be fewer stray animals on the streets in the future. It was all made possible by an anonymous donor who wanted to make a difference.
