SLAM keeps Gallery Laughs going with Dulcé Sloan on Friday

The Saint Louis Art Museum will keep the laughs going this weekend as Gallery Laughs continues its second season this weekend. The one-of-a-kind, four-part stand-up series — produced by Chris Denman and Mid Coast Media — brings nationally touring comedians to SLAM, alongside some of St. Louis’ favorite local performers.

The latest installment takes place this Friday (Aug. 21).

SLAM admission is always free, but Fridays come with a little extra energy. Gallery Laughs starts at 5 p.m. with DJ Scooter Brown and a cocktail hour that sets the tone for the evening. Comedy follows at 6:30 p.m. with Dulcé Sloan featuring Precious J Dorsey and Chris Cyr, hosted by Denman.

Free tickets will be available in person at the Museum beginning at 10 a.m. on the day of the show. They can be picked up at the welcome desk in Taylor Hall.

Sloan is a comedian and Emmy award-winning actress. She’s known for her work as a correspondent and guest host on The Daily Show, and for voicing Honeybee Shaw on Fox’s animated series The Great North. She’s also a recurring panelist on NPR’s Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me and previously hosted the CW’s The Great American Joke Off. Her Comedy Central Presents special was named one of the New York Times’ “Best Comedy of 2019.” Sloan currently co-hosts the weekly podcast Chasing K-Dramas, which breaks down popular Korean dramas episode by episode.

Each Gallery Laughs event also features custom artwork by St. Louis artist Cbabi Bayoc. Portraits inspired by the headlining comedians are displayed at every show, with a limited number of prints available for attendees.
