Tanzania orders NCMC to educate the public on its new carbon trading registration system

DODOMA: THE National Carbon Monitoring Centre (NCMC) has been directed to educate the public on its new carbon trading registration system to enable citizens to understand and use it with ease.

The directive was issued by the Permanent Secretary in the Vice-President’s Office, Dr Richard Muyungi, on September 17, 2026, during a meeting with NCMC management at the centre’s offices in Mtumba, Dodoma where he noted that public awareness is essential to ensure citizens have accurate information on opportunities, procedures and systems governing carbon trading in Tanzania.

He also directed NCMC experts to continue improving the centre’s digital systems to make information and services more accessible to stakeholders involved in carbon trading.

“NCMC has an important role to play in implementing the Tanzania Development Vision 2050, particularly its environmental pillar. Effective management of carbon trading is among the areas that could support Tanzania’s efforts to protect the environment, address climate change and promote sustainable development,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary further urged NCMC staff to work closely with officials in the Vice-President’s Office to jointly address challenges facing the centre while pledging continued government support to strengthen NCMC through additional human resources, working equipment and financial resources.
