By Breaking Belize News Staff: Police have formally arrested and charged 24-year-old Lennox Linford Gentle, a Belizean labourer of Belize City, with the murder of Kiffer Alexander McKenzie.
Gentle was charged on Tuesday, August 4, following an investigation into McKenzie’s killing, which occurred on June 13, 2026.
McKenzie, 29, was shot shortly after 10:00 a.m. while inside his vehicle on Albert Street in downtown Belize City. Children were reportedly inside the vehicle when the gunman opened fire. After being wounded, McKenzie lost control of the vehicle and crashed near the former Scotiabank building.
He was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police have not released further details regarding the evidence that led to Gentle’s arrest. He is expected to be arraigned in court on the murder charge.
