Allan Pollard: “Regular Belizeans gave what they could to support me”

By Zoila Palma:  Allan Pollard has expressed gratitude to the hundreds of delegates and supporters who stood behind his candidacy in the People’s United Party’s (PUP) Belize City mayoral race, saying the support he received from ordinary Belizeans made the campaign particularly meaningful.

Pollard thanked the 341 delegates who voted for him, describing the contest as “the hardest” campaign he has faced. He said the support he received from across the country helped him remain committed despite the challenges he encountered along the way.

Pollard placed particular emphasis on the backing he received from everyday Belizeans, stating, “ordinary people stood up for me.”

He said that despite the significant resources involved in the campaign, supporters contributed what they could because they believed in his leadership and the cause behind his candidacy.

“Some made personal sacrifices because they believed in me and believed in what we were trying to accomplish,” he said.

He also thanked the three of the party’s ten Area Representatives who supported his candidacy, praising their courage and saying, “Your courage will not be forgotten.”

“I believe I have contributed greatly to the success of this Party over the years,” while acknowledging that recent decisions he made would have consequences.

Pollard said he remains at peace with the choices he made during what he described as a difficult period.
