Cote d’Ivoire have an opportunity to join fellow Africans Morocco and South Africa in the round of 32 of the Fifa World Cup 2026 when they face Curacao on Wednesday at Philadelphia stadium.

The Elephants have three points from their 1-0 win over Ecuador in their first game but lost 2-1 to Germany despite leading the game for larger parts.

Coming into the game, Emerse Fae’s side need a point to confirm progress but are favourites for maximum points against the lowest ranked side in their group.

The coach has to make decisions on whether to continue with Amad Diallo ahead of Nicholas Pepe but Yan Diamonde is poised to keep his starting position down the left flank.

Ivory Coast are looking to create their own history as they bid to advance to the World Cup knockout rounds for the first time, having previously suffered three consecutive group-stage eliminations.

Roma centre-back Evan N’Dicka is fully fit but Wilfried Ssingo is injured with Guela Doue the most likely replacement at right back.  

Elsewhere, Germany, already qualified to the next round face Ecuador who need to win and hope Ivory Coast fall in their respective group.
