Loma Suyo 'Olor De Tu Tierra' (Earthly Measures) - Premiere!
We are delighted to host the premiere of the new single from Loma Suyo aka Liz Fullerton and Ish Quintero. A bouncy, folk-infused slice of electroacoustic cumbia with a touch of dub pressure in the mix, the duo take the knowledge and skills they developed on the East Coast hip hop, beats and folk scenes and weave them delicately into their shared emotional and historical explorations of their Mexican and Colombian Andean back stories. Read / Listen.
We are super pleased to premiere the new single ‘Olor De Tu Tierra’ from Loma Suyo aka Liz Fullerton and Ish Quintero. Now based in the Catskills Mountains in New York State, they first met in Philadelphia in 2010 through the city’s underground hip hop and trip hop scenes but didn't really start making music together until 2019, a shared confluence of cultural experiences and familial inheritances revealing a roadmap of sorts to investigate together.
Liz grew up in Central Mexico and Ish’s roots are in the Colombian Andes, cultural, sonic and emotional references that the couple have been exploring since. On their forthcoming third album for the UK label Earthly Measures, ‘Paloma’, they have stepped up a level, their electroacoustic palette of Liz’s bilingual vocals, electronic beats and acoustic instrumentation reinforced by a bevy of guest musicians to flesh out their already intriguing sound. The single itself is a beautifully produced and atmospheric blend of charango-driven folktronica, cumbia and a cheeky touch of dubwise knowledge. Spiritually charged, funky and instantly catchy, this has the scent (“el olor”) of Summer all over it. Enjoy!
