Former vehicle workshop owner Tweulongelwa Ndeiluka appeared in court on Tuesday following his arrest for allegedly defrauding the Namibian Defence Force of over N$179 000.
Ndeiluka (49), who used to own Lifeline Body Workshop and Car Sales, was arrested in connection with an alleged corruption scheme of N$179 508 involving NDF vehicle repair payments.
He was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and appeared in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court, where he was granted bail in an amount of N$10 000.
It is alleged that payments were made to his company for vehicle repairs and services that were never rendered.
It is further alleged that inflated quotations were submitted for his personal financial gain.
The alleged scheme reportedly took place between November 2019 and February 2020.
The ACC confirmed the arrest on Wednesday.
ACC spokesperson Marina Matundu said investigations indicate that Ndeiluka allegedly colluded with members of the NDF by generating false quotations for repairs on NDF vehicles.
Ndeiluka has been charged under the Anti-Corruption Act, specifically for using office or position for gratification, with fraud listed as an alternative charge.
The authorities are still looking for one additional suspect.
The ACC said the case highlights the abuse of official positions for personal enrichment and underscores the importance of accountability within public institutions.
Matundu reiterated the commission’s commitment to upholding integrity and accountability within state institutions.
“Corruption undermines good governance and service delivery, and the Commission remains resolute in investigating all corrupt activities to ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law,” she said.
