By Zoila Palma: Residents of Belize City will have an opportunity to explore lesser-known chapters of Belize’s history when historian Assad Shoman brings the Belize @ 45 Magical History Tour to the city next week.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Belize City House of Culture. The tour will invite participants to delve into historical accounts and perspectives that may not always be included in traditional textbooks.
NICH is encouraging residents to take part in the discussion and engage with Belize’s history by asking questions and exploring the events and experiences that have shaped the nation.
The initiative carries the message: “Belize @ 45 — time to ask the hard questions.”
The event is being made possible through the support of the National Celebrations Commission and the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH).
