Blacks Power mark return to UPL with victory against Ntugasaze

Blacks Power marked their return to top flight football with a win over fellow newcomers Ntugasaze in the game played on Saturday at the Hoima City Stadium.

Andrea Ogwal scored the solitary goal of the game to guide the FUFA Big League Champions to victory.

It should be noted that both Ntugasaze and Blacks Power earned promotion to Uganda Premier League in May this year alongside Kigezi HomeBoyz and Kataka.

For Blacks Power, they were making their second appearance in the top flight division, having featured in the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League season.

On the other side, Ntugasaze are just making their maiden appearance and today’s game marked their first step into top flight football.

Blacks Power despite being based in Lira City have had to endure playing away from home because Ebenezer University Ground which is their home venue doesn’t meet the FUFA Club Licensing standards.

Instead, the club opted to seek solace in Hoima City, which is 240km from Lira. For the meantime, the club will use Hoima City Stadium as their home ground.

Under the stewardship of coach Simon Peter Mugerwa, Blacks Power will now shift focus to their next game, still at home to Police who won 1-0 against Mbarara City.

On the other hand, Ntugasaze will welcome Maroons at the Kira Road Police Arena on Wednesday next week.
