CHIDI OKOYE PROTESTS, DEMANDS RERUN OF NDC PRIMARY ELECTION

An aspirant for the Anambra Central Senatorial District under the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Chidi Okoye, has called for the rerun of the party’s recently conducted direct primary election, alleging irregularities in the process.

Okoye made the demand during a protest at the party’s national secretariat, where he claimed that no primary election was conducted in his senatorial district despite the announcement of results by the party leadership.

According to him, the exercise failed to meet the standards of a credible and transparent primary election, urging the party leadership to annul the outcome and conduct a fresh poll.
Another aspirant, Solomon Onyekwelu from Idemili North, also alleged that no primary election took place in his area and called for corrective action by the party.

Party members from different states joined the protest, demanding a rerun of the exercise and urging the leadership of the NDC to ensure fairness, transparency, and inclusiveness in its internal democratic processes.

The protesters maintained that addressing their concerns would help strengthen unity within the party and restore confidence among members.
