Authorities in Mali have extended the curfew imposed in the capital Bamako by an additional 72 hours, as security tensions persist across the country, according to an official decision issued by the Governor of the Bamako District.
The decision states that the curfew, initially imposed under a previous decree dated April 25, 2026, will remain in effect from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., starting Tuesday, April 28, 2026.
The extension was justified by the need to maintain public order, as authorities intensify security measures following a series of attacks targeting military and civilian sites in the capital and other regions.
Local authorities, including mayors and regional security officials, have been tasked with enforcing the decision within their respective jurisdictions to ensure compliance during the extended period.
The move comes amid escalating security challenges in Mali, as authorities seek to stabilize the situation and prevent further deterioration in the capital.
